ELKHART -- Raymond Newton "Ray" Sumner, 52, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
He was born Aug. 17, 1958, in Gary to Raymond J. and Lavergne C. (Johnson) Sumner.
Surviving are his mother, Lavergne C. Sumner of Elkhart; and sons Christopher Hutchings of Okeechobee, Fla., and Nick and Shawn Sumner of Gary.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond J. Sumner.
A service in memory and celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011, at First Church of God, 2411 S. Sixth St., Elkhart. Pastor Mike Vandevoode will officiate. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the service. A light luncheon will follow. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
