Obituary

ELKHART —Raymond G. "Ray" Reynolds, 80, of Elkhart, passed away after a short illness  Thursday, Feb. 4, at Hubbard Hill Estates.

Ray was born  June 17, 1935,  in Fort Ann, NY to the late Harold and Shirley (Sherwin) Reynolds.

In addition to his parents, a son Raymond G. Reynolds Jr., who just passed on Jan. 29; four brothers, Harold Jr., Larry, Jim and Jerry; three sisters, Jean White, Joan Nassivera and Joyce Daut, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Erma E. Reynolds; they were married  June 28, 1954, in Topeka, Kan.; a son Robert P. (Diane) Reynolds of Elkhart; and daughter Peggy (Doug) Whitworth of Goshen; four grandchildren, Stacy and Stephanie Freeze, Bryce Reynolds and Beth Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren Austin and Ariah Freeze.; daughter-in-law Edith Reynolds of Elkhart; brother John Reynolds of Queensbury, N.Y.; two sisters, Janet (Jerry) Stockman of Fort. Ann, N.Y. and Juanita Gentile of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; two half brothers, Daniel and Douglas Reynolds,  a half sister Darlene (Ken) Beecher and his stepmother, Mary Reynolds,  all of Glens Falls, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.

He will be missed by his special little Yorkie, Casey. Ray spent 13 and a half years in the U. S. Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict, Saudi Arabia and Alaska. He was a retired Teamster with Local 364, having worked for McLean Trucking and retiring from ABF. He enjoyed traveling and helping friends and family. He and Erma spent the last 19 winters in Bushnell, Fla.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Services celebrating Ray's life will begin at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior  Wednesday, Feb. 10, also at Billings Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Severance will officiate. The service will conclude with the folding and presenting of the flag and playing of taps, by the U. S. Air Force Funeral Honor Guard. Burial will then follow at Rice Cemetery.

Ray's family kindly requests memorials to The Faith Mission of Elkhart, Humane Society of Elkhart Co., or United Cancer Services of Elkhart Co.
