Obituary

Randall L. “Randy” Davis Jr., lovingly known as “Buzz” by his close friends and family, 66, of South Bend, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born in South Bend, IN on June 28, 1959, to the late Randall L. Davis SR. and Phyllis (Fleck) Pratt, who survives him.

Randy is also survived by his loving wife of over 48 years, Patsy Davis; son, Elijah Damien Davis; honorary son, Michael Ingram; goddaughter, Mary Alice Ferguson; siblings, Darlene “Dee Dee” (Jim) Davis, Richard (Susan) Davis, Debbie (Cindy Pierce) Davis, Barbara Barbara, Susan (Fred) Habberman, Nancy (Daryl) Sander and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Ralph Pratt; and sister, Shirley Morrison (survived by her husband Steve).

A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. Cremation was chosen and Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be given in Randy’s honor to National Ataxia Foundation, P.O. Box 27986 Golden Valley, MN 55427.

Randy was a gentle soul and in the words of his loving wife, “the most beautiful man that walked the face of the earth.” He was a loving husband who married the sweet and just as kind Patsy Thomas, on October 22, 1977, and would give her flowers almost every day. Randy worked for Memorial Hospital for several years in different departments and later worked at Oaklawn for seven years. He was a devoted father to his son, Elijah, and loved to go fishing with him and share his love of music.

Randy was knowledgeable in all genres of music. Music was his life and he loved prog rock and thrash metal. Some of his favorite bands included (but are not limited to) Alice Cooper, Sound Garden, Pink Floyd, T-Rex, AC DC, Bob Marley, Metallica, Ghost, Porcupine Tree, Chester Bennigton, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, and Queen. Randy was an avid reader and horror movie fan. He especially loved John Carpenter’s “Halloween”, Rob Zombie’s “Devils Rejects”, Tobe Hoopers classic “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, and the most recent Osgood Perkins’ film, “Long Legs.” Randy also enjoyed drawing and gardening with his wife, no matter the weather. He was an incredibly talented man who could fix just about anything around the house and could write beautiful poems. Randy had a love of tattoos and since he and his wife share the same birthday of June 28, 1959, they would get new tattoos to celebrate the occasion. Words cannot describe how much Randy will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
