Rafael Franco Orozco, 62, of Elkhart, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Rafael was born on August 5, 1958 in Capilla de Guadalupe, Jalisco, Mexico to Enrique Franco and Lucia Orozco. He was married to Maria Elena Franco on October 21, 1989 in California.

Rafael is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Franco; daughter, Brenda Franco; grandson, Brayden Franco all of Elkhart; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rafael was a dairy bagger at Dairy Farmers Plant of America for 29 years. He was a parishioner and singer in the Spanish Choir at St. Vincent Catholic de Paul Church in Elkhart. Rafael was a gifted "trio" singer and guitar player. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart. Rafael was loved by his family and was especially close with his grandson, Brayden.

A Visitation for Rafael will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM during the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 11:00 am., Friday, September 24, 2020, at St. Vincent de Paul  Catholic Church, 1108 Main St., Elkhart with 1 hour visitation prior to the start of the Mass. A Mexican Service and Burial will be in Mexico at a later date.

According to Elkhart County ordinances, facial masks and coverings are required when entering the building and a maximum of 50 people will be allowed in at once. Please follow social distancing procedures. Thank you.

Rafael nació el 5 de agosto de 1958 en Capilla de Guadalupe, Jalisco, México, hijo de Enrique Franco y Lucía Orozco. Estuvo casado con María Elena Franco el 21 de octubre de 1989 en California.

Rafael es sobrevivido por su esposa, María Elena Franco; hija, Brenda Franco; nieto, Brayden Franco todo Elkhart; y muchos primos, sobrinas y sobrinos.

Rafael fue un bagger lechero en Dairy Farmers Plant of America durante 29 años. Fue felicero y cantante en el Coro Español en la Iglesia Católica de San Vicente de Paul en Elkhart. Rafael fue un talentoso cantante y guitarrista "trio". Tenía un maravilloso sentido del humor y un gran corazón. Rafael era amado por su familia y era especialmente cercano con su nieto, Brayden.

Una Visita para Rafael se llevará a cabo el jueves 23 de septiembre de 2020 de 5:00 pm a 8:00 pm en Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

Se rezará un rosario a las 6 pm el jueves.

Una Misa de Entierro Cristiano se llevará a cabo a las 11:00 am., viernes, 24 de septiembre de 2020, en la Iglesia Católica de San Vicente de Paul, 1108 Main St., Elkhart con 1 hora de visita antes del inicio de la Misa. Un Servicio y Entierro Mexicano estará en México en una fecha posterior.

De acuerdo con las ordenanzas del condado de Elkhart, se requieren máscaras faciales y cubiertas al entrar en el edificio y se permitirá la entrada de un máximo de 50 personas a la vez. Por favor, siga los procedimientos de distanciamiento social. Gracias.
