FORT WAYNE — Queen E. "Mother" Dancler, 92, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, in her home.
She was born March 19, 1921, in Crawfordsville, Ark., to Floyd Sr. and Augusta (Sanders) Jackson. On Aug. 25, 1948, she married the late Rev. Elbert Dancler Sr. He passed away on Feb. 25, 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Creola Gary of Elkhart and Kattie Benson and Birtha Dancler-Conard, both of Fort Wayne; five sons, Nute E. Dancler Jr. of Marion, Willie F. (Renee) Dancler of Muncie, J. David (Melanie) Dancler and Larry Dancler, both of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Harry Dancler of Gardner, Mass.; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Flordia Scott and Esther Viola Bridges; brother Floyd Jackson Jr.; two sisters, Mose L. Scott and Elizabeth Hennings; great-grandson Jermael Moore; and great-great-grandson Quentin Moore.
She was a loving homemaker and was employed as a homecare giver for many years. She was the founder and a member of the Mothers Board at Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center in Fort Wayne.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral services Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse Ave., Elkhart. Pastor Harold Johnson of Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center will officiate. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery.
