Phyllis M. Brown Eby, 91, Harmony of Elkhart, IN, previously of Sebring, FL, died at 9:14 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka following an extended illness.

She was born July 16, 1931, in Dayton, OH to Samuel W. and Mary Ethel (Fulton) Stewart. On November 7, 1953, she was first married to Paul N. Brown in Angola, IN. He preceded her in November of 1980 following their divorce. She then married Loren J. Eby on September 18, 1975, at the former Albright UM Church in Elkhart, IN.

She graduated from New Madison, OH High School as Valedictorian and Elkhart Business University as a medical secretary. She was a member of the Albright UM Church, Elkhart, IN, an Associate member of the First Baptist Church of Sebring, FL and member of Olive Mennonite Church in Elkhart, IN. She was employed by Roosevelt School, a homemaker, Cub Scout and Brownie Leader, Beardsley Elementary PTA officer, and City PTA officer in Elkhart. She enjoyed traveling, people, especially children, reading, genealogy, and embroidery work. She was employed for 21 years by Commercial Union Insurance Co. as Sr. Insurance Claims Adjuster, retiring to Sebring, FL in December of 1990.

She was preceded by her parents, Samuel and Mary Stewart, a brother, Glen Eugene Stewart, two sisters, Barbara Joyce Stewart and Shirley K. (Stewart) Newell, former husband, Paul N. Brown, and husband Loren J. Eby.

Surviving are her children, Jack Brown (CA), Scott Brown (IN), Dennis Brown (FL), and Teri (Brown) Kauffman (IN); four grandchildren; six step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart with a service to follow at noon. Burial will be at Olive West Cemetery in Elkhart immediately following the service. Memorial may be directed to Bashor Children's Home of the United Methodist Church in Goshen.
