Phyllis Jean Russell, 80, of Jones, MI, passed away after a brief illness Monday, October 1, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital, surrounded by her family.  Phyllis was born on November 1, 1937 in Cassopolis to the late Charles and Thelma (Hall) Christner. She married James J. "Jim" Russell on September 6, 1957 in Cassopolis. Jim survives, as well as their four daughters, Christy (Steve) Kirk, Melinda (Sam) Mayo, Lucinda (Brad Risser) Russell, Jamie (Russ) Neild; 11 loving grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Phyllis was a loving wife and amazing grandma. She attended Chapel Hill Missionary Church was the family "prayer warrior" always ready to lend a hug, prayer, listening ear or support to the children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, birdwatching and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at Noon, Saturday, October 6, at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill Street, Union, MI.  Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until service time. Pastor Jeff Snider will officiate.

Burial will follow at Kessington Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
