ELKHART — Paul A. Roell, 81, of Elkhart, passed away Monday evening, July 31, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born on March 21, 1936 in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late Robert H. and Leona (Stegman) Roell.

He married Patty Martin on Nov. 27, 1992, Patty survives, as well as seven children; Paul B. (Brenda) Roell, Tammy J. Ferguson, Sallie M. (Bob) Fisher, Dizzy A. (LeRoy) Stewart, Walter A. (Rebecca) Roell, Penny L. (Scott) Norwood and Lisa R. (Danny) Riffle; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Robert L. Roell Sr, Tim Roell and his twin sister Pauline Weeks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Julia M. (Kent), 3 brothers, Leo, Bill, Joe Roell and sisters, Lucille Hines and Marina Styer.

Paul started working for GTE in 1968 and retired from Verizon after 25 years of service.

He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.

Paul was an incredible man all around, living his beliefs, loving his family, and treating everyone he met with respect. His presence will be missed, but his legacy will live on through the lives that he touched.

A memorial mass for Paul will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 at 10: a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Rev. Matthew Coonan will officiate.

Following the Mass, a gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3415 Pleasant Plain Ave. Elkhart.
