ELKHART -- Paul J. Hartman, 87, of 1001 W. Hively Ave., died at 2:35 p.m. Saturday (July 19, 2008) at Golden Living Center.
He was born June 11, 1921, in Nappanee to Roscoe W. and Barbara (Burkholder) Hartman. On Nov. 7, 1947, he married Ruby B. Lehman. She died in 1999.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen (Kim) Scherer and Marla (Don Gingrich) Hart, both of Elkhart, and Judy (Dennis) Huff of Goshen; one sister, Louise (Albert) Robison of Nappanee; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Owen and Levon Hartman; and one sister, Lillian Morris.
Mr. Hartman owned Royale Truck Caps in Wakarusa and worked at Nichol's Bakery in Elkhart. He enjoyed helping the elderly, playing pinochle and euchre with his family and friends, and fast-pitch softball.
Friends may call one hour prior to an 11 a.m. Tuesday funeral service at Billing Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Cremation will take place.
Memorials may be given to AseraCare Hospice or the Golden Living Center.
