Obituary

Paul "Doc" Watson, Jr., 62, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Paul was born in Elkhart, IN on October 22, 1961 to the late, Paul G. Watson Sr., and Helen (Grant) Watson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen; brother, Mark R. Cranmer and close brother, "best friend", Timothy Lee Cranmer; sister, Helen M. McDaniel and his beloved black labs, General and Savage.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Rochelle "Rocky" Watson; son, Charles (Whitney) Filley; grandchildren, Keegan and Kyson; sister, Shirley (Randal) Fox; mother of his children, Linda Filley-Watson and several loving nieces and nephews.

Paul was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School. In his younger days, he played softball.

Throughout his life, Paul was a talented automotive paint detailer at many local businesses such as Tag and Leer. He created unique works of art on many of the vehicles in Elkhart.

Paul's passion was the great outdoors. Whether it was camping, hunting, fishing or mushrooming, Paul loved being outside becoming one with nature.

Paul enjoyed watching NASCAR and action movies with his daughter, Rocky in his spare time.

Paul was also an animal lover and huge history buff.

Paul will be remembered as good-natured and always a proponent of justice.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:00pm at the funeral home with his sister, Pastor Shirley Fox of New Testament Bible Church officiating.
