Patrick “Pat” James Duffy, 71, of Goshen, went Home to His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Greencroft in Goshen after a prolonged battle with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. His strength, resilience, and determination to recover have been an inspiration to everyone around him.
Pat was born in Pawtucket, RI on July 27, 1954 to the late Raymond and Elsie (Mastrangelo) Duffy. He married the love of his life, Linda Duffy, on October 17, 1981 at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Elkhart.
He is preceded in death by his brother, John Duffy.
Pat is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda (Young) Duffy of Goshen; sons, Kyle (Ali) Duffy of Ogden Dunes, IN and Nathan (Amber) Duffy of TX; grandchildren, Hazel, Clara and Malcolm; brother, Raymond Duffy of Pascoag, RI and sisters, Dee Tavares of Foster, RI and Mary LaDuke of Central Falls, RI.
Pat was a skilled architect who graduated in 1977 from the University of Notre Dame where he enjoyed participating in fencing. He also ignited a lifelong passion for travel and honed his skills as an artist while studying abroad in Rome, Italy bringing home countless paintings, sketches, and stories cherished by his family.
Pat spent most of his career applying his considerable skill as an architect at Anchor Construction where his colleagues became close friends. He officially retired in 2020, but his Anchor family’s incredibly generous support has been invaluable to Pat and his family in his later years.
His architectural works may be found locally and nationally. He was particularly well-known for his beautiful and unique window designs that will endure and continue to bring joy to his family and friends when they’re spotted locally.
Pat and Linda were longtime members of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church, where Pat faithfully shared his love of Christ in many ways over the past 40 years. He served as a trustee for many years, designed an addition that will continue to be enjoyed by all McCoy families into the future, and delighted in teaching fifth- and sixth-grade Sunday school, a job particularly well-suited to him given his incredible talent for making everything more fun for everyone around him.
Pat was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, loved taking his family on fun vacations, enjoyed reading science fiction novels, and collected many treasures, finding joy in the small things that others often overlooked. Family board game nights were a cherished tradition in the home, setting an example for prioritizing family connection which now extends to his boys’ adult homes as well. As he raised them, Pat joined his boys in their worlds by showing genuine interest in their hobbies from computer games and model rockets to music and caring for the many interesting pets who were lucky enough to call the Duffy home theirs.
Pat was proud of his faith and his family, setting an incredible example for all those who knew him. He was intelligent and thoughtful, but somehow also incredibly humble. Above all, his family will forever cherish their memories of his fun and whimsical nature that never failed to bring joy to those around him.
