IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ann
(Rust) Hartman
June 5, 1935 – January 20, 2024
Patricia Ann Hartman, 88, of Elkhart Indiana, passed peacefully on January 20, at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart, IN, where she valiantly struggled with Alzheimer's. Her husband, Jack whom she was married to for 65 years passed away on February 27, 2023. Patricia Ann Rust was born June 5th, 1935 in Portage, Ohio to Robert Rust and Leona Knapp.
Oct. 20, 1956 Patricia Ann and her devoted husband Jack F Hartman of Elkhart, Indiana, were married, in St. Vincent's Church. She is survived by her seven children Patrick (Julie Corman Baum), Jackie (Rich) Niblock, Matt, Marc (Claire), Chris, Greg (Jessica Viramontes), Claire (Chris) Haag.
She is also survived by grandchildren Mallory Welch; Merrill (Doug) Harvey and their children; Penelope, Kennedy and Caroline; Aaron (Sarah) Haag and son Bodie; Jeff (Tuyen) Haag and their children Emerson and Jack; and Jon Haag; Ian (Gabrianna) Hartman; Kaitlyn (Cayla Coy) Hartman; Luke Hartman; Kyle Corman and his daughter Katie Joe, Zachary Corman; daughter Abriella and Adaline, Dillan Baum, Mandy (Joe) Reed and their children Charlie and Johnny, Angie (Shaun) Minger and their children Kade, Kinsley and Adley; Meg (Kyle) Rimer and their children Emerson, Avery and Eliza; Chase (Jessica) Niblock and daughter Mila.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and sibling Marilyn Searls.
When Pat wasn't raising 7 rambunctious children, she stayed busy sewing and creating Halloween costumes, clothing for herself and her children. Canning and freezing bushels of beans, tomatoes, making applesauce and apple butter, jellies and jams and numerous variations of pickles are fond memories. She also enjoyed making character cakes for her children's birthdays.
She was involved in a variety of clubs. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the St. Thomas Rosary society, POH (pursuit of happiness), MOTC (mother of twin's club) and Mothers of Deaf children. They hosted picnics annually at their lake cottage. Memories of Greg's teacher trailing her horse to the annual event where all the children enjoyed rides in the lake with her horse named King while holding onto his tail was a highlight.
Once the children left the nest, she and Jack enjoyed retirement in Port St. Lucie, Florida, close to her mother's home. During retirement she enjoyed playing tennis, watching professional tennis matches and attending her grandchildren's sporting, school functions and performances.
She also attended to members of the Catholic community by serving communion and visiting those in need.
