Patricia Ann (Liken) Donofry, age 86 of Bristol, IN, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the Center for Hospice Care Esther's House in Elkhart, IN.
Pat was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 17, 1939, to the late Russell Breckenridge Liken and Alberta Luella Liken (Muehlbronner). Pat had one older brother, Charles E. Liken and one stepbrother, Russell Breckenridge Liken Jr., who both preceded her in death.
Pat spent her childhood in Oil City, Pennsylvania, where she had her first job during high school as a librarian. In the summers, she loved to ride her horse on her parents' farm in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Pat graduated from Oil City High School and Pennsylvania State University with a degree in English Literature. She furthered her education and graduated from Katharine Gibbs College Secretarial School. Her first job was as the executive assistant to the director of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Pat continued to work throughout her life in real estate offices, libraries, adoption centers, and lastly for H & R Block.
In the summer of 1963, on the beaches of Margate, New Jersey, Pat met the love of her life and future husband, Joseph Lawrence Donofry of Philadelphia. Pat and Joe celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 12, 2025. Pat was a member of Sugar Grove Church in Goshen, IN for thirty years where she attended regular Sunday worship and enjoyed numerous Bible Studies and fellowship. Pat loved to read and her favorites were mystery novels and books about faith. Pat loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, biking, birdwatching and gardening. She was best known for a beaming smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a wonderful listener and a good friend.
Pat is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Donofry of Bristol; her children Laura Jean Donofry of Bristol and Russell B. Donofry and wife Heather of Valparaiso, IN; her 6 grandchildren Jonathon Weatherbee and wife Brittany of Durand, IL, Christopher Harris of Bristol, Elizabeth Donofry of Bristol, Sarah Donofry of Bristol, Aidan Donofry of Valparaiso, and Ava Donofry of Valparaiso, as well as 2 great grandchildren Vada Harris and Gabriel Weatherbee. She is further survived by 11 nieces and 5 nephews.
Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart will host a private gathering of Pat's immediate family on Friday, December 19, 2025. On Monday, December 22, 2025, a public graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 17000 Indiana 120 in Bristol at 11:00 am, with the Reverend Robert Van Kempen of the St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol officiating.
