Pamela “Pam” Jean Huffer, 61 of Elkhart passed away after an extended illness at her home.

Pam was born in South Bend, IN on December 10, 1964 to the late Larry Hankins and Andria Jean (Colbert) Starkweather. She married the love of her life, Charles “Dan” Huffer on October 5, 2018 in Elkhart, IN.

She is preceded in death by brothers, Danny Hankins and Jeff Starkweather.

Pam is survived by her husband, Dan Huffer of Elkhart; daughter, Lucretia ( Justin) Herrli of Elkhart; sons, James (April) Parker of Hudson, FL and Christopher (Amanda) McAnally of Oxford, Alabama; grandchildren, Tiffany, Roman, Owen, Wyatt, Damian, Donta, Kayana, Miranda, Bethany; great grandchildren, Evelyn and Atlas; sister Julie Schmitts (Ted Howard) of Sitka, AK.

Pam was a dedicated worker who spent time employed in the deli department at Meijer Supermarket and also worked at White Plines Services. Her strong faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, served as her foundation and guided her through life's difficult times.

A true artist at heart, Pam expressed her creativity in many forms. She could often be found attending live rock concerts, taking the stage as a karaoke star, or tending to her home garden. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, frequently gifting her beautiful handmade crafts to bring joy to others.

Pam held a deep commitment to her community and country. She was a dedicated, long-time member of both the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the American Legion in Elkhart, where she passionately supported local veterans and regularly attended community fish fries. Pam spent many years giving her time, volunteering at LoveWay.

Her immense compassion extended to all animals, especially those without a home. Pam leaves behind her beloved horses, as well as her cherished dogs and cats at home.

Family and friends were the center of Pam’s world. She was known by all as a strong, resourceful woman with a heart of gold.

A Celebration of Pam’s Life will be held on October 24, 2026 at the family farm. Family will reach out with service times closer to the date.
