Ozella "Shudda" Gibson, 90, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her home. Ozella or Shudda as she was lovingly known to all, was born on December 9, 1934 in Arkansas to the late Thomas and Leora (Cain) Billops. She married Earl E. Gibson on October 4, 1968, in Chicago. Her Husband Earl passed on April 1, 2005, in addition to her parents. Her son, Otis Darnell "G Man" Gary, daughter Rochelle Williams, six sisters, Juanita Riley, Wardine Ware, Charlene Wiley, Willie Mae Wiley, Myrtle Mathies, Gloria King, grand son Michael J. Jackson, granddaughter, Tahaira Sanders, and a great granddaughter Callie Payne.

Surviving is her son Michael Bennett of Elkhart, One sister, Margaret (Leroy) West of Indianaoplis, IN., four brothers, Robert Wiley Jr., Lionel (Janet) Wiley both of Madison, IL., Cornelius Wiley of Las Vegas, NV and Amos (Wilma) Billops of Poplar Bluff, MO. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will miss her very much.

Ozella worked as a cosmetologist, with her own salon on main street and later, out of her home. She also worked as a seamstress for many years. Ozella was one of the original founders and a very active member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was on the mother's board of the church. She was a Sunday school teacher. President of the adult choir and helped with the children's choir for many years and the starlite band.  She loved to sing and sung many solos over the years. She was also the Secretary of the Northeastern District, and President of the Junior Women. Mom had a heart of gold and will be loved and missed by many.

Homegoing services for Ozella Gibson will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am.  Services at 11:00 am at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 802 West Garfield Ave. Elkhart, IN.   Reverend Danny Brown will officiate.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10809 Jefferson Road, Osceola, IN.  Repast at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, IN.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com
