ELKHART — Opal G. "Gaye" Ferrell, 65, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital after a courageous battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma at 8:49 p.m. Sunday, March 2.
She was born June 3, 1948, in Middlefork, W.Va., to the late Autmer E. and Virginia (Morris) Mullins.
She later married Roger D. "Dickie" Ferrell on June 3, 1967, in Shrewsbury, W.Va. He survives at home.
Also surviving are her daughter, Heather Ellsworth of Elkhart; sister Jean (Al) Buckley of Bristol; and brothers Wes Mullins of Crawfordsville, Fla., and Calvin (Kathy) Mullins of Elkhart.
Her brothers Carlos and Bill Mullins preceded her in death.
A celebration of Gaye's life will begin with a visitation at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Elder Chester Gibson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, Gaye will be cremated following the services.
Gaye worked at Keyline Sales in Elkhart for more than 23 years, retiring in 2012. She was an avid bingo player who also enjoyed visiting casinos, attending garage sales and spending time with her family.
