GOSHEN -- Odetta Mae Burget, 92, of Goshen, died at 7:22 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 3, 2009) in Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa.


She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Royal Center to Cecil L. and Ethel (Boose) Martin. On Feb. 27, 1937, she married Kenneth Burget in Kewanna. He died in 1999.


Mrs. Burget is survived by one son, Kenneth (Veronica) Burget Jr. of Spokane, Wash.; one daughter, Donna (Dennis) Myers of Goshen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annabelle Schmaltz of Royal Center.


One sister, Betty Lou Martin, preceded her in death.


Mrs. Burget was a homemaker and a prolific cook -- Swiss steak was a family favorite. She worked as a tax assessor for St. Joseph County, a Tupperware distributor, Cub Scout den mother, Boy Scout leader and nurse's aide at Healthwin Hospital, Mishawaka. She loved to play euchre and was an avid Indiana University/Bob Knight fan.


Friends may call Monday from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Tom Conrad of First Brethren Church of Elkhart, 24197 C.R. 16 E., will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
