ELKHART — Norman K. "Norm" Deuel, 76, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, April 7, at Signature Health Care of South Bend.
He was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Elkhart, to Lee B. and Gertrude B. (Leist) Deuel.
On April 12, 1959, he married his wife of 56 years, Patsy J. (Beattie) Deuel of Elkhart.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Simon) Micola of Elkhart; one granddaughter, Christen (Josh) Hillebrand of Mishawaka; one great-granddaughter, Mariah Hillebrand of Mishawaka; two brothers, Ronald and Larry Deuel; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Harvey Deuel.
Norm was employed at Miles Laboratories for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2003.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA and spent more than 30 years serving in United States civil defense.
Norm loved sky diving, hunting and fishing whenever possible. He also loved helping others and touched the lives of many in our community.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, April 11, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Joe Rager will officiate. Interment will follow in Victor Chapel Cemetery in Star City.
