ELKHART -- Norman A. Bingham, 84, of Runway Road, died at 7:27 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 1, 2007) in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Lovington, Ill., to Eli and Carrie (Sinkhorn) Bingham. He married Margaret L. Schulz on Jan. 7, 1972, in Vidalia, Ga.

She survives along with one daughter, Patricia (Tom) Waidner of Osceola; one son, Benjamin Bingham of Elkhart; one stepson, Rob Schulz of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Erma Firnhaber of Taylorville, Ill., Mary Catherine Watson of Owaneco, Ill., and Billie Ruth (James) Rhems of Aurora, Ill.; and two brothers, Edward Bingham of Aurora and James Bingham of Michigan.

Mr. Bingham was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Carl, Robert and Richard Bingham.

Friends may call two hours prior to Wednesday's noon funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Joe Smith of Dunlap United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mission Hill Memorial Gardens, Niles, Mich.

Mr. Bingham retired from Osceola Farms, Canal Point, Fla., where he worked as a machinist for 17 years. He was past president of Machinists Union Local 2667 in Canal Point, a life member of VFW 4337 in Inverness, Fla., member and former president of AARP and Friendly Pioneers and a member of Dunlap UMC. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
