Nicholas Lloyd Lewis, 32, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Chicago, IL on Aug. 19, 1986 to the late Otis K. Lewis, Jr. and Tonda (Roby) Lewis, who survives him.

He is also survived by his daughters Chyna and Juriah Jackson and Nevaeh Lewis; his sister Daisy Spencer and brothers Caprice (Christina) Roby and Dallas Lewis. He is preceded in death by his brother, J.W. Roby.

A memorial celebration of Nick's life was held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the True Vine Tabernacle, 54365 Independence St., Elkhart.  The Rev. Connelly Gibbs, Jr., a close family friend, will officiate and burial will follow at a later date at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.

Although Nick spent the majority of his life with a disability, his disadvantages taught him the preciousness of life. Because of this, he chose to devote himself to humanitarian causes. He enjoyed giving food and shelter to others and will be best remembered for his ability to take wayward people off the street and give them a fighting chance to survive and thrive.
