Nancy Alice Zoller, 88, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in South Bend, IN on November 18, 1937, to the late Louis C. and Ethel (Shafer) Layfield.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Edward J. Zoller; children, David C. (Amanda) Hilde and Suzanne K. (Cameron) Snyder; step children, Michael (Stephanie) Zoller, Patrick (Renee) Zoller, Karen Wolfe, Jodie (Rich) Amarosa, and Jon (Karen) Dilgard; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Snyder, Cortney (Michael) McIntire, Kristin (Cameron) Epple, Rachel Hilde, and Cali Hilde; six great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.
Nancy was the kindest person anyone could ever meet, and she had never met a stranger. After graduating from high school, she obtained her associate’s degree from Western Michigan University. Nancy was a bookkeeper for several years and later became a homemaker where she enjoyed making her home an inviting and peaceful place for her family. Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Bend and then later Elkhart where she devoted her time to Christ and to her church family.
On December 12, 1999, Nancy married Edward Zoller and spent 26 wonderful years by each other’s side. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Europe. They would often winter in Florida where they made many friends to share their adventures with. Nancy had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the perfect grandmother who loved everyone and always saw the best of people around her. In her spare time, she enjoyed needle point and was an avid reader. Words can never express how much Nancy will be dearly missed.
In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, cremation will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A service will be held at 11am on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church on Beardsley with Rev. Dr. Sally Wicks officiating. Interment will take place at the church’s Memorial Garden following the service. Family and friends of the Snyder, Hilde, and Zoller families are welcome to gather for a celebration of her life at the Toasted Turtle at 51425 State Road 19 in Elkhart.
