ELKHART -- Nancy Elizabeth Ruhling, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:48 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 7, 2010) in Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born March 19, 1949, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Milfred and Ruth (Barber) Long. On Aug. 18, 1995, she married Thomas E. Ruhling in Elkhart, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert (Suzanne) Niswander III and Patrick Niswander, both of Union, Mich.; two stepsons, Michael (Julie) Ruhling of Rochester, N.Y., and Marc Ruhling of Goshen; stepdaughter Michele Cripe of Grand Ledge, Mich.; brother Ralph (Della) Long of Mineral City, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Nancy was employed as a retention specialist with Comcast for more than 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and pets.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 7 p.m. memorial service on Thursday (Aug. 12, 2010) at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 405 W. Beardsley Ave., Elkhart. The Rev. Dr. William Hemmig will officiate. Her cremated remains will be buried in St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 C.R. 19, Bristol, IN 46507 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
