Ms. Jessie Jackson, 79, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully following an illness at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

She was born in Elkhart on January 28, 1947 to the late John Ray and Jewel Jackson, her mother who still survives in town. She is also survived by her sisters Nancy and Marlette and her brothers Johnny and Eugene “Tootie”. Additionally, she leaves behind a loving extended family in Columbus, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her son Tony and her brother Richard.

In accordance with her wishes, Jessie’s cremated remains will be buried at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart during a private graveside service there. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family with arrangements.

Jessie was a 1966 graduate of Elkhart High School and was employed at Miles Laboratories (Bayer) for the better part of 30 years. She will be remembered for her determination, independence, and for living her life on her own terms.
