Obituary

ELKHART -- Mollie Sutton, 84, of Jeanwood Drive died at 2 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 24, 2007) in Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1922, in Knot County, Ky., to Jim and Winnie (Messer) Nobel. On April 3, 1950, in Hazard, Ky., she married Chester C. Sutton.

He survives along with two sons, Tommy (Novella) Ritchie of Elkhart and Eugene (Alice) Sutton of Bristol; a daughter, Audrey Kinnard of Dade City, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Angeline (Rab) Combs of Rockford, Ill.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and one hour before the 11 a.m. service Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Mike Chastain of Guthries Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Bedford, will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Sutton worked as a press operator at F.W. Means Co. for more than 20 years.

She had a green thumb and was known for her flower gardens and arrangements. She also enjoyed collecting rocks.

Before moving to Jeanwood Drive, Mrs. Sutton lived on Best Avenue for more than 50 years.
