ELKHART -- Miriam I. Hoffman, 86, of Hillcrest Drive in Elkhart, passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home, of natural causes.
She was born May 23, 1925, in Quinnesec, Mich., to the late Walter and Mabel (Click) McClellan. She married Devon W. Hoffman on June 22, 1944, in Elkhart. He died in March 2004.
Survivors include her sons, Paul E. (Anita) Hoffman, Ron (Deb) Hoffman and Garry Hoffman, all of Elkhart. Also surviving are a sister, Evelyn (Bill) Moore of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Elton McClellan of Elkhart; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin McClellan; a grandson, Douglas Hoffman; and two sisters, Dorothy White and Esther Baker.
A memorial celebration of Miriam's life is taking place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Crossroads Community Church, 57415 Alpha Drive, Goshen, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor James Fischer will officiate, and, in accordance to Miriam's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Miriam was a lifetime member of First Church of the Nazarene, and then later of Crossroads Church. She worked at Miles Laboratories for 26 years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed cooking, canning and spending time with her family.
Memorial donations may be given to the church or to the Salvation Army.
