ELKHART — Minnie P. Williams, 67, of Elkhart, passed away from natural causes at 12:02 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the home of her sister, Mary, while visiting her near Augusta, Ga.
She was born in Walls, Miss., on Nov. 22, 1944, to the late Earnest "Doc" and Virgie L. (Christian) Jones. She married Freddie L. Williams in Lansing, Mich., in 1972. He died in Elkhart in 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Stephanie Miller of Berkley, Ill., Tonjia Miller of Elkhart, Maggie (Edwin) Pete of Nashville, Tenn., and Cheryl Smith of College Park, Ga.; two sons, Freddie A. (Jacki) Williams of Elkhart and Henry (Wendy) Neff of Detroit; six sisters, Mary (Houston) Morgan of Evans, Ga., Bertha Jones of Lansing, Henrietta (Anderson) Kyle of Union, Mich., Juanita Henderson of Bellwood, Ill., and Bobbie (Johnny) Wilson and Alice (Chris) Berrios, both of Elkhart; three brothers, Earnest and Samuel (Gloria) Jones, both of Los Angeles, and Roosevelt Jones of Blytheville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews are also left to cherish her memory.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Cynthia Williams; a sister, Ora Hughes; and four brothers, Robert and Thomas Jones, Willie Sartin and Primus Moss.
Services will be at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, with visitation from 10 a.m. until noon and the funeral starting at noon. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Dr. Paul Turner of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research of South Bend will officiate.
Minnie was a production worker for more than 20 years at American Electronic Components Inc. of Elkhart, retiring in 2005.
