ELKHART — Mildred L. "Midge" Green, 81, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital at 1:43 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, following an extended illness.
She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, Feb. 26, 1933, to the late Francis and Florence (Allton) Kirby.
Surviving are her sons, Jim (Tracey) Green and Rick Green, both of Elkhart; her brother, Larry Kirby of Shipshewana; her sister, Maryann Freed of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was a son, Gary Green; a daughter, Rhonda Mitchell; and siblings Bud, Tom, Nancy and Marlin.
Midge worked for several years at Anco Products of Elkhart, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be best remembered for being a devout Christian lady and an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan.
Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is hosting Midge's celebration of life with a viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25. The funeral will then be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
