ELKHART — Mildred E. Crafford, 88, of Elkhart, formerly of Arizona City, Ariz., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 22, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.
She was born April 8, 1926, in Springfield, Colo., to Jack W. and Ruth A. (Salisbury) Allen.
On April 28, 1945, she married the late Roy Bryan Crafford in Peoria, Ariz. He preceded her in death May 1, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie (Tex) Schlabaugh, Patricia Crafford and Donna (David) Johnson, all of Elkhart; two brothers, Stephen (Fran) Allen of Gravette, Ark., and James (Jean) Allen of Bristol; two sisters, Nedra (Rolan) Anderson of Rogers, Ark., and Catherine Mills of Fayetteville, Ark.; two grandsons, Christopher (Lisa) Schlabaugh and Jonathan (Marcie) Schlabaugh, both of Elkhart; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nick, Marissa, Carson, Garrett and Kami Schlabaugh, all of Elkhart, and Byron Mosley of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Willard, Floyd and Clare Allen; and two sisters, Barbara Brown and Erma Hendry.
In addition to being a loving homemaker, Mildred worked as a seamstress for more than 35 years at Santress Industries and Ascot Enterprises.
She was a member of Arizona City Baptist Church and a former member of Grace Bible Church, where she taught the preschool class for 33 years.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Graveside services will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Pastor David Garty will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mildred to the Alzheimer's Association.
