Obituary

Midge L. Houghton, 72, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at her home.

Midge was born on November 2, 1947 to Fred J. Fackelman Jr. and Carole (Stuck) Fackelman in Elkhart, IN.  Midge was married for 29 years to the late Larry E. "Howie" Houghton on April 25, 1991. He passed away on November 21, 2016.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Carole, husband, Howie, brother Mike and sister, Marlene.

Midge is survived by a son, Craig V. Bruggner of Elkhart, 3 step-children, Tracy (Joe) Chase of Walled Lake, MI, Tammy (Kevin) Hood of Columbia, TN and Todd (Traci) Houghton of Lewisburg, TN; four grandchildren, Aaron (Aimee), Christina, Caylynn and Ashley; 1 great grandson, Waylon; 2 sisters, Lou Ann (Carl) Higley of Edwardsburg and Anita (Terry) Proffitt of Bristol; 4 brothers, Dick Fackelman of Edwardsburg, Don (Judy) Fackelman of Ingram, TX, Bill (Jody) Fackelman of Elkhart and Jim (Jackie)  Fackelman of Edwardsburg; brother-in-law, Larry Crosby in Kerrville, TX; several nieces and nephews and beloved pet dog, Tessie Lou.

Midge was a bookkeeper in the local RV industry for many years. She and her husband, Howie owned the Firehouse Restaurant in Elkhart. Midge enjoyed working in her yard and just being outside. She was an excellent cook and loved family get-togethers. Most of all, Midge will be remembered for her generosity and caring nature.

Per Midge's request, she will be cremated and her family will celebrate her life at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family
