Obituary
ELKHART — Michelle L. Lyerla, 47, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital following an extended illness at 6:09 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.
She was born in Elkhart on Nov. 11, 1967, to the late Michael Lyerla and Linda (Mattix) Ruttschaw.
Surviving are her mother, Linda (Dale) Ruttschaw, and her siblings, Pam (Henry) Emerson, Chas. "Chuck" (Lesley) Ruttschaw and Andrea "Andi" (Randy) Torrence, all of Elkhart. A son and a daughter survive as well, as do a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In accordance with the family's wishes, no services have been scheduled and cremation is to take place. Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
Michelle enjoyed all types of art, reading books and loved all animals, especially horses, cats and wolves.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Humane Society of Elkhart County or the American Lupus Foundation, Indiana Chapter.
