Michael William Schwab, 72, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at his home. He was born on May 30, 1951, in Elkhart, to the late William "Bill" G. and Patricia "Patsy" J. (Wedge) Schwab.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Crinklaw of Spanaway, WA, and Melani Lucero of Las Vegas, NV; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Timothy Schwab of NC, and Lee Ann Hoover of Elkhart; loving companion, Patricia Tomlinson of Elkhart; stepchildren, Robert (Deb) Tomlinson of Blairsville, GA, Michael (Kelli) Tomlinson of Elkhart, Kimberly Baker of Lansing, MI, and Jacqueline (Paul) Landaw of Goshen; special friends, Elizabeth Landaw of Marysville, WA, and Devin Tomlinson of Niles, MI; and a loving host of extended family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clayton Schwab; and brother, Jeffrey Schwab.
In accordance with Michael's wishes, cremation has been chosen. A private celebration of life with military honors and burial at Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol will occur at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Michael received a diploma from Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom in Washington in general education and went on to work for Colbert Packaging in Elkhart for over 30 years. He was President of the first Homeowner's Association in Elkhart, holding office for 20 years, along with being the Union President at Colbert Packaging for a time and a member of the Labor Relations Board.
In his spare time, Michael adored playing the guitar and listening to music, being a part of a few bands during his life. He enjoyed playing a round of pool, gardening or landscaping, and feeding and caring for the local wildlife, particularly birds. He was known to dabble in various hobbies, always trying to keep himself busy.
Michael will be most remembered for his charming, funny, and affectionate personality. He was a very giving man, always trying to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Michael, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed by those whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
