IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Adam
Kuzniewicz
June 4, 1951 – August 18, 2023
Michael Adam Kuzniewicz, 72, of Elkhart, passed away surrounded by loved ones Friday, August 18, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief, hard fought illness. Mike was born on June 4, 1951, in Hamburg, Germany to the late Adam P. Kuzniewicz and Margarethe Kennedy. Mike had a passion for travel and adventure his entire life, that took him in all directions, from Colorado to Tennessee. He even spent a few years building a life in Sarasota, FL, but all roads lead back to Elkhart, and the love of his life, Kathy. He married his best friend and true love Kathy D. Rininger on September 20, 1986, in Elkhart. He was often heard saying how he always knew they were meant for each other. Surviving is his wife of 36 years Kathy D. Kuzniewicz, daughter Nicole (Alan) Drouillard; two sons, Matthew (Leesa) Rininger and Adam Kuzniewicz; three grandchildren, Monica (James) Lindsey, Remington Rininger and Benjermin Rininger; also surviving is a half-sister Gayle Burns. In addition to his parents, a sister Monika Kuzniewicz preceded Michael in death.
Mike was proud of his career as a local CDL operator, retiring from Temple Products of Indiana with an accident-free record. He enjoyed his days at work interacting with his peers and customers as he delivered aluminum extruded products around the area. In his free time, Mike spent countless hours maintaining his home landscape and garden. The attention to detail he put into his yardwork could be seen in the beautiful results. Mike took great pride in having one of the best lawns on the block. Mike loved animals and cared for many pets throughout his life, but he always had a special fondness for Boston Terriers. His interest in football led him to spend time watching several of his favorite teams any chance he could. Mike was a fan of Classic Rock and embodied the free spirit of the music. He never missed an opportunity to spend quality time relaxing with friends and family enjoying a cold IPA. Of all his passions and interests, his family was the most important. The love and friendship shared by him, and his son Adam made them, "Two peas in a pod". It was evident to everyone how much Mike cherished their special bond.
In honoring his wishes, cremation was chosen. A burial at Prairie Street Cemetery and celebration of his life service will be held at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
Condolences may be made online to Kathy or his family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
Celebration of Life Service will be at a later date
