OSCEOLA — Michael J. "Mike" Detwiler Sr., 63, of Osceola, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, in his residence. He was born June 27, 1950, in Elkhart to Noble Manford Detwiler Jr. and Innabelle O. (Meyers) Detwiler.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, M. Darlene Detwiler of Osceola; son Michael J. "Mike" Detwiler Jr. of Hooks, Texas; daughter Stephanie Darlene Detwiler of Osceola; three grandchildren, Alysha Darlene Detwiler, Dominic Stephen Baker and Madison Riley Baker, all of Osceola; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Wayne Detwiler, and grandson, Daniel James Detwiler.
Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a welder for more than 40 years prior to his retirement. Mike was a member of the American Legion Post 308 in Osceola.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, and one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Brother-in-law William Baylis Nitchell and nephew Neil J. Davis will officiate. Interment will follow immediately in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Military graveside honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the American Legion Post 308.
