ELKHART: Michael C. Hershberger, 82, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2023, at his home. He worked at Superior Tool & Die for 64 years and loved his job there. Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was born on December 30, 1940, in Claypool, Indiana to the late Welcome Hershberger and Marie (Faulkner) Tom. In addition to his parents, a son Troy Hershberger and brother Dale Hershberger preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jane H. (Saxon) Hershberger; son, Todd Hershberger, stepsons, Mark Staveley, John Staveley, and a step-daughter, Susan (Dan) Haddock; five granddaughters, Kate Hershberger (Lindsey Wilson), Grace (Matt) Phelps, Madeline (Dylan) Montgomery, Wendy Haddock, Mackenzie (Andy) Coleman, Emma Staveley, and one great granddaughter, Lenni Coleman; He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Ellen) Hershberger, and sister, Marion Ruth Tom; along with many nieces and nephews.

Michael will be greatly missed! He was well loved by his family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for family and friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 E. Bristol St., Elkhart.  Pastor Tracy Rose-Love will officiate. Per his wishes, cremation was chosen. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request memorial donations to the church or Faith Mission, 801 Benham Ave. Elkhart.
