ELKHART — Michael John Dibley Sr., 80, residing in Elkhart, passed away on Saturday evening, Oct. 22, 2011, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born on March 13, 1931 in Watford, England, to the late George Patrick and Edith Gwendolyn (Dancaster) Dibley. On May 30, 1956, he married Josephine Lucchese at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Dibley of Elkhart; sons Michael J. Dibley Jr. of Elkhart, Anthony P. Dibley of Elkhart, Andrew G. (Jenny) Dibley of Middlebury, Stephen G. (Rochelle) Dibley of Bristol and Timothy D. (Kim) Dibley of Elkhart; and daughters Mary E. (Jim) Revas of Vicksburg, Mich., and Tina A. (Steve) Murphy of Mishawaka. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren: Stephanie Gordon (Darrick), Joey, and Jonathan Swabash; Michael, Andrea, Matt, Katie, Emily, and David Dibley; Nicholas, Luke, and Christopher Dibley; Stephen, Joseph, Elizabeth Hostetler (Mat), Abby, Kara, Amanda, Stacy, Nathan, Lauren, Sarah, George, Alaina, Ellie, and Sadie Dibley; Alyssa, Annamarie, Cassandra, Spencer, Michaela, Joshua, Jessica, Noah, and Sophia Dibley; and Eddie, Michael, Jake, JoJo, and Emma Murphy. Also, five great-grandchildren: Zipporah, Amira, DJ, Xavier, and Miles Gordon, survive, as well as his sisters, Sheila M. Dibley of Elkhart and Eileen (Bob) Stevens of Fort Wayne.
Mike retired from NIBCO after 43 years of service, where he worked in sales. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Elkhart Council 1043 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's events and activities, spending time with his extended family and playing cards and fishing. Mike served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Please join with his family as we celebrate Mike's life from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. A parish vigil service will be prayed beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Friends also may call for one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. William "Bill" Sullivan will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
