Michael Craig Devereux, 68, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 3, 2022. Born in Chicago on August 6, 1954, Mike was the son of the late Robert and Bernice (Johnson) Devereux. On October 10, 1992 he married his wife Denise and continued to build their family and life together for the last 30 years!

Besides Denise, Mike is also survived by his son Adam (Carolyn Denny) Devereux; daughter Michaela "Mickie" (Anthony) Devereux-Datena; brother Rick Devereux; sisters Lisa (Rich) Cain and Betty Miller of Chicago; granddaughter Georgia Datena and nephews Rick Devereux, Jr. and Jarod Heyse. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Randy Devereux.

Memorial services will be held at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana for close family and friends.

Mike grew up in Winston Hills, Illinois and Bremen, Indiana. He was a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, then worked in finance at Miles (and then Bayer, and then Siemens) for a total of 36 years, retiring in 2015.

Mike lived a life full of wonderful memories he shared with his friends and family. It really was the stuff of a movie – hilarious unbelievable stories. He knew everything there was to know about music and sports trivia. He loved The Beatles and classic rock. Mike was a sports fanatic and he played on several area baseball and fastpitch softball teams and leagues including the Michiana Over 30 League on his team the Old Stars. They won the championship 2 years out of 3 and Mike had the most hits in team history. He also coached his son Adam's Little League and All Star teams and loved to watch Mickie play volleyball. He was an avid supporter and fan of the Oakland A's, Toronto Maple Leafs, Indiana University and the LA Rams. He never missed a game.

Mike, or "Diamond Devereux" as his friends called him, was smart, funny, kind, generous and never had a dull moment in his life. He was an animal lover and will be best remembered for his funny antics and loveable, unbeatable spirit. Mike made a lasting impact on his family and friends that will remain strong. Though he is not physically here with us, he is with us in spirit and his journey continues. He will forever be missed by all that knew him.
