ELKHART -- Michael Champion, 60, was found deceased in his home on Tuesday morning (June 1, 2010) in Elkhart.

He was born June 5, 1949, in Fremont, to Victor R. and June (Cooper) Champion. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Angola.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael L. (Melissa) Champion of Coldwater, Mich., and Timothy M. Champion, currently on deployment with the U.S. Navy; two stepchildren, Chris (Melanie) McNall of Virginia and Annette (Jim) Littley of Hillsdale, Mich.; eight grandchildren; brother Jerry (Patty) Champion of Coldwater Lake, Mich.; and sister Janice (Douglas) Coffman of Elkhart.

In accordance to Mike's wishes, there will be no service or visitation, and cremation has taken place. Mike was disabled most of his adult life, but enjoyed taking walks, riding his bicycle and visiting his friends.

Billings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in the form of non-perishable food items taken to the Church Community Services Food Bank on Oakland Avenue in Elkhart.
