Michael Jack Boomershine, 53, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away quietly early Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 in Florida, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. It was his last wish to be in the sunshine.
The son of Robert "Bob" and Jane L. (Moyer) Boomershine. He was born on January 27, 1961 in Elkhart.
He graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1981. Michael worked at Hyatt Place in Mishawaka as the hotel manager. He was a workaholic and loved his job and the people he worked with. Mike was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed shooting pool when he had time.
Mike is survived by his parents; two sisters, Ronda Boomershine of Alabama and Diann (Matthew) Allred of Niles, Mich.; a half-brother Jeff (Janet) Ulrey of Elkhart; a niece Isabella Allred of Niles and two nephews, Joshua (Tasha) Boomershine of Alabama and Grayson Allred of Niles. His grandparents W.L. and Phyllis Moyer preceded him in death.
Services celebrating Michael's life will begin with visitation from Noon until the start of the 5:00 p.m. service on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Pastor Robert Geans of the First Pentecostal Church in Edwardsburg will officiate.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the service.
