Obituary
ELKHART- Michael R. "Mike" Ahrens, 63, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1952 in Jackson, MI to Richard L. and Mary L. (LaRock) Ahrens.
Survivors include his mother, Mary L. Ahrens of Elkhart; 2 daughters, Charlena (Brett) Maples of Arvada, CO and Kari (Chris Lee) Ahrens of Elkhart; 1 son, Joseph (Hannah Sousley) Ahrens of Edwardsburg, MI; 1 brother, Jeffrey Ahrens of Elkhart; 2 sisters, Patty (John) Gaut of Milford and Karen (Mike Mallo) Hahn of Elkhart; 7 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mike was employed in the RV manufacturing industry for several years prior to his retirement.
He often enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, watching football, taking care of his horses and was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the 1:00 PM celebration of life service on Saturday, November 28th at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street, Elkhart. Pastor Jeff Reece will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mike.
