ELKHART -- Merl James Mishler, 97, of Elkhart, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday (May 4, 2010) at Valley View Health Care Center of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 30, 1912, to the late Clyde Mishler and Dora Morningstar in Goshen. He married Panzy Ruth Gilbert on Oct. 24, 1935, in Goshen. She passed away in Elkhart in 1999.
He is survived by one daughter, Merlene J. (Richard M.) Nusbaum of Union, Mich. He was preceded in death by one brother, Farrell.
Merl was a lifelong auto mechanic and worked many years at the North Main Street Mobil Station as well as Jim Stone's Mobil Station on the corner of Third and Lexington streets, both in Elkhart. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A private graveside service will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, on Friday.
