Melford Wayne Bonner, 71, of Niles, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 20, 1953, in Artesia, California.

After dating for five years, Wayne married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann "Cyndie" Kushnerick, who preceded him in death on January 31, 2025. Wayne was also preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Boner and Mary Ellen (Williams) Boner; brothers James E. Benner and Ricky D. Boner; and sister Linda K.Boner.

He is survived by his brother Russell Eugene Benner and wife Stacy Benner; sister Kathryn Jo Wentland and Gene Young of South Bend, Indiana; sister Linda Kay Majors of Dayton, Texas; two stepsons, Kristoffer and Kevin Seymore of Osceola; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Wayne proudly joined the United States Army in 1976 and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 357 in South Bend, Indiana.

Wayne will be remembered for his deep love of family, his service to his country, and his kind spirit.

In accordance with Wayne wishes, cremation was chosen. Graveside services were held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.  with military honors by the United Staes Army Funeral Honor Guard and EVHG (Elkhart Veterans Honor Guard.
