ELKHART -- Matthew John "Matt" Nietubicz, 45, of Elkhart, died Saturday evening, Sept. 25, 2010, at his home.

He was born on June 28, 1965, in Detroit to the late Douglas J. and Dorothy Ann (Cislo) Nietubicz.

He is survived by his son, Matthew (Nicole) Krawcke of Westland, Mich., and his sister, Lori (Luke) Baldwin of Elkhart. Four nieces; two nephews; and one great nephew survive as well.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steven.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St., in Elkhart. The Rev. Bill Sullivan will celebrate. Cremation will follow Mass with burial at a later date in St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights, Mich.

Matt was the owner/operator of R and M Carpet Co. in Elkhart. He formerly worked with his late father for many years doing installations and has been a contract carpet installer since he graduated from high school. He was a 1983 graduate of St. Andrew High School in Detroit and while growing up and living there, he attended Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Matt was an avid University of Michigan football fan.
