ELKHART — Matthew Alonzo Kirts, 40,  of Elkhart, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at his home.

Matthew was born Aug. 17, 1978, in Elkhart, to the late Gerald A. and Sheila (Nelson) Kirts.

Matthew is survived by his son, Tyeler A. (Taylor Clarkson) Kirts; two sisters, Cynthia (Robert) Irons and Sarah (Mike) Castleman; as well as three nephews and four nieces; and his girlfriend Amanda Penninger.

Matthew was a 1996 graduate of Elkhart Central High School.

He was a handyman and loved to work with his hands and tinker on things.

He was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing (on almost anything) and doing tattoos for himself and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart.

Per the family's request, cremation was chosen.
