Obituary

ELKHART — Mary "Henrietta" Wenger, 93, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, May 23, at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born May 25, 1920, in Fremont to Chester E. and Pearl L. (Teeters) Chapin.

On Dec. 24, 1937, she married the late Galen L. Wenger in Manchester.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally K. (Jim) Lindsey of Elkhart and Mary H. (Martin) Bell of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Devon Chapin and Ward Chapin,; and two sisters, Gwen Grimes and Jane Chapin.

Henrietta worked for over 20 years as a preschool teacher at First Presbyterian Church and later at Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and a member and past president of Married Women's Club.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, May 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2715 East Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. Pastor Karen Bray will officiate. Entombment will follow in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 CR 19, Bristol, IN 46507.
