Mary Weldy, 94, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at her residence with her son, David, by her side. She was born in Cassopolis, MI on September 12, 1928, to the late Frank and Zola (Owen) Crouse.

Mary is survived by her son, David Weldy; granddaughters, Brittany (Jeremy) Stainko and Paige Weldy; great grandchildren, Carter and Pippa Stainko and Ezra Zimmer; and faithful kitty companion, Lovey. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Kenneth "Kenny" Weldy; and siblings, Evelyn Lee, Pearl Rogers, Francis Duncan, and John Crouse.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart.

Mary was a sweet woman who devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. She grew up on the family farm tending to animals and gardening where she enjoyed living in the countryside. That love of gardening continued as she often canned veggies and fruits. One of her favorite pastimes was searching for delicious morels during the Spring.

Mary was an excellent cook who would make fantastic meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners. Her famous dishes included mac and cheese, ham, and sweet potatoes. Spending time with family meant the most to Mary and it made her proud to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
