Obituary
ELKHART — Mary Ellen Sawyer, 86, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday evening, July 23, at Riverside Village.
She was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Elkhart, to the late Russell and Dorothy (Colby) Elliott.
She married James R. "Jim" Sawyer on Sept. 15, 1951; Jim died Feb. 19, 2010.
Mary is survived by her children, Thomas R. (Dru) Sawyer and Ann D. Sawyer, both of Elkhart; also sisters, Sonja Wynn of Elkhart and Donna (Lowell) Weaver of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and her brother Bill (Luella) Elliott.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Sawyer.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She formerly worked at CTS and Biltmore Studios. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose. She was a graduate of Concord High School. Mary enjoyed doll houses and had wintered for many years in Daytona Beach, Fla., with her husband Jim.
Funeral services for Mary will begin at 1 p.m. with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
