ELKHART -- Mary Miles (Miller) Maxson, 78, of Elkhart died Friday (Oct. 2, 1009) at 1:30 p.m. at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center.
Mary was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Hartford City, Ind., the seventh of 11 children born to the late Charleston D. and Rosa A. (Redding) Miller.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William D. Maxson of Elkhart; three sons, Rick A. (Debra) Maxson of Gainesville, Mo., Randy D. (Pat) Maxson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Stanley L. Savary, also of Fort Lauderdale; three stepdaughters, Diana (Ted) Bentley of Miramar, Fla., Elizabeth Snyder of Davie, Fla., and Cynthia Eddinger of North Jackson, Ohio. Also surviving is her sister, Margretta M. Witman of Oak Harbor, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Maxson of Union, Mich. Mary leaves behind 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother; father; four brothers, Bernard, Norm, Bob and Chuck; and her five sisters, Betty, Virginia, Lillian, Kay and Norma Jean.
Mary loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and having family get-togethers. She took pride in her cooking and baking and so did her children.
Please join with her family on Tuesday (Oct. 6, 2009) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and also for one hour prior to the 1 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 7, 2009) funeral service, also at Billings Funeral Home. Her brother-in-law, Bob Weaver, will officiate with graveside services and burial to follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
