She was born in Elkhart on Feb. 11, 1937, to the late Alpha Van and Anna Linda (Droegmiller) Haven. She married Daniel R. Mabie on Sept. 7, 2002, in Elkhart.
He survives, as well as seven sons, Tim Peffley of Fort Wayne, Jim (Gail) Peffley of Three Rivers, Mich., Mark (Max) Mabie and Daniel E. (Toni) Mabie, both of Lubbock, Texas, James (Roseanne) Mabie of Roseville, Mich., and Charlie (Tammi) Boswell and Brian (Cheryl) Mabie, both of Elkhart; and her six daughters, Kim (Paul "Honch") Honchell of St. Cloud, Fla., Stacy (Kevin) Kelley, Tracy (Todd Good) Peffley, Becky Boswell and Danielle (Chris) Cole, all of Elkhart, and Tricia (Tim) Williams of Warsaw. Mary also leaves to cherish her 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Shirley Murphy, Doris Morse and Linda (Gene) Taber, all of Elkhart, and Gloria (Lawrence) Hein of Goshen.
Six sisters, Eileen Wenzel, Deannie Watson, Jennie White, Wanda Geroux, Norma Lambo and an infant sister, Iris Haven, preceded Mickey in death.
Mary -- or Mickey to her family and friends -- was a proud homemaker and a loving wife and mother who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and served as a former officer in the Women of the Moose. She loved life and enjoyed traveling with Daniel. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where the celebration of her life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. Friends also may call for one hour prior to her service. Pastor James J. Young of Word of Life Fellowship will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where her children will carry her to her final resting place.
