Mary A. Leyba, 76, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Gary, IN on August 9, 1945, to the late Edmund and Hildred (Smith) Earl.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Josh) Sullivan; grandson, Xavier Sullivan; brother, Robert (Sharon) Earl; sister, Carolyn Barnes; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Mary's wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. Mass of a Christian burial will take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Rd. South Bend, IN 46635 with an hour of visitation prior. Mary will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IN at a later date.

Mary was a loving, fun, and determined woman who worked in the steel industry for many years before retiring. She graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, IN where she was part of the first class to graduate in 1959. Mary was a devout member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church for many years. In her spare time, she loved to play games with her family and her favorite grandson, enjoyed watching crime shows, and never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite Notre Dame team with her brother. Mary will be dearly missed by her loving family.
