ELKHART -- Mary L. Johnson, 70, of Elkhart, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at her home from natural causes.
She was born in South Bend on Oct. 20, 1940, to Harry and Elsie (Scott) Reid Sr., who preceded her in death along with two sisters, Betty Spann and Norma Blanchard.
Surviving are a daughter, Lori Johnson of West Lafayette; a son, Lawrence Newbill of South Bend; three sisters, Shirley Carter of South Bend, Maxine Taylor of Irving, Texas, and Nadine (Levar) Johnson of Elkhart; a brother, Harry (Nancy) Reid Jr. of South Bend; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 6 p.m. funeral Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. Pastor Cyneatha Millsaps of Markham, Ill., will officiate. Cremation will follow services.
Mary worked as a machinist for CTS of Elkhart for more than 36 years. She enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, drawing, working on her computer and cooking wonderful meals for her family.
